Plan With Me January 2021 | Illuminating Light Bulbs Theme

It’s the end of January, which means it’s time to look back on this first month of 2021. Every year I get the feeling that January is the month where it all needs to happen. That I need new and fresh ideas and try something totally different. The past two years I made the mistake to give in to this feeling and make a bullet journal theme that was more difficult, used different media and pressured myself. But 2021 wasn’t going to pressure me that easily, instead, I stayed calm and just stuck to what I knew. A good colour combination, doodles, simplicity and a dutch door here and there. This theme is exactly my style of journaling and I’m happy that I focused on creating something close to myself. No more weird new years escapades for me!

January 2021 colour scheme

Light bulbs and colours

I have to admit, picking colours for this month was everything but easy. All the pale yellows in my stash just weren’t it. So I decided to get some inspiration from @aurabujos and chose a colour scheme with yellows and a hint of green.

This made such a difference! For my spreads, I used three Tombow dual tip brush pens in the colours 312, 991 and N89. Next to these, I also used two Arteza Twimarkers in the colours A229 and A119. This colour combination changed the entire look of my theme, which was exactly what I needed.

Rectangles and Light Bulbs

There are so many amazing creators who made a light bulb spread already and I felt the pressure to create something new and interesting. After deciding on my colour scheme I felt stuck, waiting for inspiration to hit. After a brainstorm session with some friends, my creative mind began to work. Rectangles were my solution. Giving the spreads more shape and depth.

Weekly spreads

In total I made four weekly spreads for January. I combined both normal weekly layouts and running task list spreads. For the first week I added a study tracker, because I had to study for an assessment. Keeping it simple was my main focus, also because I didn’t have a lot of inspiration for them.

Light bulbs, light bulbs and more light bulbs

A bullet journal set-up without trackers doesn’t feel like a finished one to me. This month I even made four tracker pages, which is crazy! A light bulb mood tracker couldn’t miss in this theme, this one took me quite a while to make. However, drawing all the light bulbs was so much fun, so I didn’t mind at all.

I also made a reading tracker again because I want to try and read more books this year. I do plan on starting a book journal soon. Since I don’t have it yet, this one will have to do for now! My wellness tracker is one of my favourites to fill in. This time I added a line for my sleeping hours, skin condition and energy levels. My habit tracker is a dutch door again, I didn’t want to track that many habits this month so this smaller one was perfect!
